I didn’t create HADJÉ Organic because I had perfect hair. I created it because I lost it.
In 2018, during the most demanding season of my life — final-year exams, an internship, and a thesis all at once — my hair began to fall out. What started as shedding I could brush aside soon became something I couldn’t ignore: my hair losing its strength, its fullness, its life.
I searched for products that would actually nourish my hair, not just coat it for a day. I couldn’t find them. So I decided to make them myself.
It Started With One Ingredient: Chébé Powder
I began sourcing traditional Chébé powder from Chad and bringing it to Benin, where I sold it on its own. Chébé had long been treasured in African hair-care traditions for strengthening and lengthening hair — and that single product became the seed of everything HADJÉ Organic would grow into.
From there came a question: what if these traditions could be made easier to fold into an everyday routine?
First came the hair oils. Then the pomades. Then treatments. One product led to the next, each built on the principle that guided the first: I would never sell anything I wasn’t willing to use on my own hair.
Every formula started with me — tested in small batches, refined through my own routine, before it ever reached anyone else’s shelf.
